Emma is the Diving Safety Officer at University of Miami. She is a dive instructor and scientific diver. Emma completed her Masters in Marine and Atmospheric Science from the University of Miami. Emma was the first recipient of an Individualized Majors Program degree in Marine Conservation at IU, where she studied endangered pillar coral Dendrogyra cylindrus in Dominican Republic.
Ian Kessler is the Scuba Commissioner for the Florida Sea Base, where he oversees all scuba diving activities. Ian previously directed outreach and education programs at Lava Beds National Monument in California and at Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas. Ian is a scientific diver, scuba instructor, parks specialist, Boy Scouts of America Camp Director, and serves as an Executive Board of Directors member of the Hoosier Trails Council.
Dr. Wheelock completed her PhD at University of Buffalo in environmental and hyperbaric physiology. Her goal is to further the understanding of human underwater physiology and to contribute to guidelines that improve dive safety and performance for military, commercial, scientific, and recreational divers alike. She has been involved in multiple hyperbaric studies aimed at improving military dive performance and mission readiness. Her research focuses on the effects of warm water immersion and heat acclimation on performance in acclimated and unacclimated individuals. Dr. Wheelock was awarded the prestigious 2021 Zale Perry Scholarship from the Academy of Underwater Arts and Sciences.
Juliette studied Animal Behavior and Underwater Resource Management at IU, and is currently working as a Water Quality Specialist at the Seattle Aquarium. She is a scientific diver and has previously worked as an Aquarist for the Frost Science Museum in Miami and the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Juliette has also worked for Coral Restoration Foundation
Claire Mullaney is an environmental scientist and specialist in environmental law and policy. Claire serves as a Vice President of the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society. She has previously worked as a consultant for the Oceans Division of the Natural Resource Defense Council, a conservation fellow with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, and a conservation intern with the Reef Environmental and Education Foundation in the Florida Keys. Claire is currently a Research Operations Specialist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Dr. Frederick H. Hanselmann ("Fritz") is an underwater archaeologist and Senior Project Manager with Search, INC. Dr. Hanselmann earned his PhD from Indiana University in 2016. Having worked on underwater sites from a wide variety of time periods, his exploration and research ranges from submerged prehistoric deposits in springs and caves to historic shipwrecks in Latin America and the Caribbean, including the wreck of the Quedagh Merchant, abandoned by Captain Kidd in 1699 off the coast of Hispaniola.
Robby Myers is a writer and media professional currently working as the Assistant Editor for Scuba Diving and Sport Diver magazines in Winter Park, Florida. Robby graduated from Indiana University in 2015 with a BA in Telecommunications, a minor in Biology and a Certificate in Underwater Resource Management. Robby started working at the magazines after graduation as the 2015 Bonnier Publishing Intern for the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society. He primarily works as part of ScubaLab, Scuba Diving’s gear testing division, where he is responsible for evaluating and reviewing the latest scuba gear.
