Protecting the Cultural Past and the Biological Present
Over the past few decades the Center for Underwater Science at Indiana University has been working diligently to protect and preserve historic shipwrecks and maritime heritage by establishing Living Museums in the Sea. Living Museums in the Sea is a holistic approach to resource management, protecting submerged cultural resources and the associated biological resources. These dive sites are not only recreational, but educational, showing rich histories and flourishing biology.
These underwater parks have been established throughout the Carribean, and represent ongoing research and monitoring sites for the Center for Underwater Science.
