Biography

Askar Mazitov is a certified PADI divemaster pursuing a double major in Biology and Underwater Archaeology. He previously participated in the Florida Keys NMS field school, along with traveling to the Dominican Republic twice for research. Currently working as a research assistant for his third-year at the Center for Underwater Science, his interests focus on the organic materials recovered from archaeological sites underwater. Particular focuses include biochemical data from faunal remains, the history of trade in animal and plant material, and the impacts of human activities on historical ecosystems.
