Model of the City of Washington shipwreck in the NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Shipwreck Trail. The ship was built in 1887 in Chester, Penssylvania to transport passengers and cargo between New York, Cuba, and Mexico. The City of Washington was present in Havana, Cuba when the USS Maine exploded on February 15, 1898, suffering minor damage and rescuing survivors after the blast. The City of Washington sank on July 10, 1917 after running aground on Elbow Reef while being towed by the tugboat Luchenbach #4. The photogrammetric model is composed of 6301 aligned images collected June 2, 2017 by Indiana University and NOAA scientific divers with support from a Preserve America grant. Model area is ~3190 square meters. Estimated error is 0.0032397 m.
